WASH Challenges around Bhalswa Landfill, Delhi

Project Description

The communities living off of and right next to the 3 major landfills in Delhi are the most impacted within the city when it comes to health hazards. The Bhalswa landfill is the most critical because it receives 2000 megatonnes of waste every day, serves 50.3% of Delhi’s population, and has the highest leachate pollution index.

Interested in amplifying the voices of the waste pickers from the field, we have been working on a research project with WRI India as winners of aaco Story Challenge which uncovers issues around the Bhalswa landfill with a focus on watersanitationhygiene and open space. We hope to bridge the gap between the grassroots and policy. Watch the [Off] Centre Collective's page for more updates!
